Thyborøn NordsøRal
Thyborøn NordsøRal has many years of experience in the stone and gravel industry, as the company started as a department for the 50-year-old Vejlby Gravel Bed, established by Knud Erik Abildtrup.
Today it is the son-in-law Roland Gagel, who is the director of Thyborøn NordsøRal.
In an industry that constantly faces new challenges, Thyborøn NordsøRal also had to find new ways to extract gravel, as the gravel pits in and around Lemvig were no longer sufficient. This could be done on Jyske Rev, the bottom of the North Sea, and even with very high quality gravel.
In recent years, it is especially this quality gravel that has been contracted for Thyborøn NordsøRal.
In 2008, the company was sold to the Belgian family-owned group Group De Cloedt (DC), which has more than 100 years of experience in the industry. The new ownership also made it possible to expand Thyborøn NordsøRal's export market. Today, about 30 percent of the turnover is exported, of which the Netherlands consumes the largest volumes.
During 2008, Thyborøn NordsøRal moved to Sydhavnen. The company has approximately 75,000 m2 storage and production area as well as 200 m. harbour quay, with a water depth of 9 m. Here, ships up to 10,000 tons can be docked.
The company disposes of a sorting plant with a capacity of 500-700 tons per hour. At the quayside, the loading of ships with sorted materials for both Danish and foreign customers also takes place. The ships can be loaded with a capacity of up to 800-900 tons per hour.
Thyborøn NordsøRal has 6 employees and is located in modern buildings consisting of 700 m2 hall and 200 m2 office, own laboratory and crew facilities.
The collaboration between the companies within the group has enabled new and exciting synergy effects, where the companies' distinctive strengths contribute to a stronger raw material profile as well as better and broader service opportunities for customers. The company therefore looks forward to the opportunities created in the near future.
